United States of America (Press Release) November 14, 2007 --
More than a year after its release, Whatever! A Baby Boomer’s Journey Into Middle Age continues to have a strong showing on Amazon. This week the book climbed into the Top 100. The author, Beverly Mahone, says she believes the book’s continued success is due to an openness to talk about menopause. “I believe women are anxious to read all they can about menopause and how it can affect them and others. I write very candidly about hot flashes, vaginal dryness, mood swings and other issues associated with the subject.
Whatever! gives the reader an humorous, yet reflective look at growing older and all of the trials and triumphs that come with the experience. With great candor and wit, Mahone also discusses her own battles with weight gain, divorce and dating again as a single parent; the complex dynamics of being an "older worker" in a youth obsessed society and shifting career gears.
The self-published author began an “I’m Still Hot---it just comes in Flashes Now!” speaking tour this past summer. The book’s popularity labeled her as a baby boomer expert on MSNBC-TV’s Boomer Nation and she was also interviewed by the New York Times. In addition, the author created an Enjoy Your Menopause website, which she says provides much needed and important information on coping with the change.
Renowned author, poet and professor, Nikki Giovanni has endorsed Ms. Mahone’s book calling it “…the right story at the right time.”
